Summary

Vascular inflammation and atherosclerosis

Endothelial dysfunction is the loss of any of the maintenance of vascular homeostasis. Multitude number of risk factors for atherosclerosis suggest a central role for inflammatory mechanisms linked to endothelial dysfunction. Inflammatory mechanisms that induce endothelial dysfunction can promote atherosclerotic lesion outset, development, and complications. The key role of endothelial dysfunction in vascular inflammation which leads to atherosclerosis and related traditional and novel serum biomarkers will be discussed.
